The People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Presidential candidate in the February 16 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has revealed that he was introduced into politics by a former Chief of Staff, under General Olusegun Obasanjo’s 1977 – 1979 military government, Mr. Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.
Atiku made this known while speaking at the presidential campaign of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Katsina State on Thursday, 7 January 2019.
He also revealed that the reason he wants to become President is so as to fulfill the unattained dreams of late Yar’Adua.
Speaking during the rally, Atiku said:
I was introduced into politics by late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua of blessed memory and I grew up in politics in Katsina.
“Later, late Shehu anointed me as the presidential candidate in 2003. “Today, it is time to fulfill the dream of late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua. Would you help Shehu achieve his unfulfilled dream?”
The PDP presidential candidate accused the Opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) for failure to fulfill the promises they made before getting into government.

“The APC, three and half years ago, came here to promise you that they will restore the economy, improve security and unemployment, but they have failed.
He also said that if he is opportuned to become the country’s number one citizen that he would restore security, provide employment opportunities and end hunger in the country.
“I am assuring you that if elected, we would restore the security, address the issue of unemployment and by the time that is done, we must have addressed hunger in the country.
“We would closely work with Lado (the Katsina PDP gubernatorial candidate) to achieve this together in the state level,”.
