President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo as he turned 82 on 5 March, 2019.
President Buhari said that he holds the contributions of Obasanjo to Nigeria’s Democracy in high esteem.
This was made known in a statement by the President, made available to ArcticReporters on Tuesday.
“Nigeria’s successful transition to democratic rule in October 1979 was one of Obasanjo’s remarkable contributions to national development.” – The President Stated.
Arctic Reporters had earlier reported that Obasanjo had called himself boss to President Buhari during a speech to mark his birthday at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.
Buhari further revealed that irrespective of the fact that himself and the ex-president belong to flip sides of the coin when it comes to politics, he still holds him in high esteem because of his contributions to the development of the Nigeria, which goes beyond politics.

He said that Obasanjo gave a good account of himself and inspired his juniors with his wit and other leadership skills.
In conclusion, Buhari wished Obasanjo good health, wisdom and knowledge in his service to Nigeria and humanity at large.
