BREAKING: INEC Cancels Supplementary Elections in Bauchi [See Reason]

All supplementary elections to be held in Tafawa Belewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State have been cancelled by the Independent national electoral Commission, INEC.

This was disclosed by the commissions national commissioner on Voter Education and Information, Mr. Festus Okoye while addressing Newsmen Yesterday.

Mr. Festus said that the reason for cancelling the supplemenatary elections was because the duplicate and original registration area results are available, hence results will now be collated and announced normally.

You may recall that  the returning officer for Bauchi State, Mohammed Kyari, had declared election in the state inconclusive following reports of irregularities which marred Tafawa Balewa local government area and some polling units across the state.

On March 12, 2019, REC Kyari submitted a report to the an investigation committee of the commission on why elections in the state where declared inconclusive.

The outcome of scrutiny by the commission births this new decision of cancelling the supplementary elections.

Mr. Festus Okoye; National commissioner on Voter Education and Information, is quoted as saying:

“The has approved the resumption, conclusion and announcement of the result of the Tafawa Balewa State Constituency.

“The Investigation Committee established that the result In Polling Units and Registration Areas are available and in safe custody.”
