The Nigerian Youth Parliament commences her 2020 oversight Legislative functions
The Nigerian Youth Parliament has embarked on oversight functions across the federation ahead of the 2020 National Youth Parliamentary Honor.
The Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP) is a Legislative and Developmental Training Institution, created to strengthen, reinforce and consolidate efforts in empowering Young People through meaningful Youth representation in driving Nigeria’s developmental agenda.
The oversight was however kicked off in Bauchi State with the Commissoner of Youth and Sports hosting the team of Youth Parliamentarians on behalf of the Governor.
The oversight project was announced via there official Twitter handle. This tour is intended to carry out assessment on state governments’ performance in the areas of Youth and Social Development, Education and Agriculture, Infrastructural development as well as other sectors of the economy.
It is expected that at the end of the assessment, a comprehensive report will be sent to both the leadership of the Senate and the House of Representatives and will further be reviewed and forwarded to the Presidency as a report from the Nigerian Youth Parliament’s training oversight.
The main purpose of this tour is to expose Youth Parliamentarians to other functions of the legislature i.e Oversight Function. It will also serve as a means of apprasial and a wake up call to Government, especially at the state level.
