ELECTION NEWS: Tambuwal Reports Buhari to US [SEE REASON]

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state has reported President Muhammaudu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress, APC, to the United States ahead of the gubernatorial polls on Saturday, March 9.

Tambuwal claimed that in the just concluded Presidential Election which saw President Buhari re-elected, members of his party, the People’s Democratic Party faced gross intimidation and harassment as they attempted to exercise their franchise.

Receiving the US ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Stuart Symington, on Thursday in Sokoto, Tambuwal who is a big wig of the PDP and also contested for the presidential slot with Atiku Abubakar said that the electorate, especially those belonging to the PDP were disenfranchised on voting day.

He however appealed to the US Ambassador to see to it that no Nigerian citizen is intimidated in the gubernatorial elections slated for Saturday, March 9, irrespective of which party they belong to .

In his words:

“The opposition has engaged in post-election violence, with attacks on citizens and razing many properties and houses within and outside the metropolis in the state”

In conclusion, Tambuwal appreciated the US ambassador for his visit to the state, stating that it is proof that the US cherishes peace and security in Nigeria, even as the elections build up.

On his side, Mr. Stuart Symington said the reason he visited the northwestern state was to see to it that elections in the state are smooth, free and fair.

He cited that no meaningful development can come to a country without peace and urged the people of Sokoto to ensure violence free elections in the state.
