CONFIRMED: Senate Passes 30,000 Minimum Wage to Law

The Nigerian Senate has passed to law a new minimum wage of 30,000 naira for both state and federal workers in Nigeria.

The bill was passed on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 during plenary by the upper chambers of the national assembly following the submission of reports by the national assembly’s ad-hoc committee on new minimum wage headed by Senator Francis Alimikhena.

Furthermore, the lawmakers requested that the Federal Government submit a  supplemental budget to make-up the new minimum wage structure for approval.
