The Federal government, through the honorable minister of state for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba have announced that all schools both state and federal institutions are to reopen on the 4th, August 2020.
The minister announced this during the daily briefing of the presidential task force on covid-19 (PTF), today in Abuja. He added that it was agreed accross the federation that schools should resume on the 3rd of August, today in a meeting that ended around 2pm, with all state commissioners for education, who were in attendance.
The meeting, had both the states and the federal government delegates coming to a single- generally accepted decision by the delegates.
The honorable minister also added that this was to enable SS3 students prepare for the west African senior school certificate examination, which is scheduled to start on the 17th or August, although the examination governing board has worked out a time table that will allow Nigerians start their examinations on the 5th of September 2020, and end on the 14th of September 2020.
This decision also includes private secondary schools, however the reopening of school is for only those who are taking terminal examination.
With this all waec candidates are therefore advised to start instensive preparation.
