The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has declared that the names of candidates of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Cross River State will be removed from ballot papers.
This was made known on Friday, 22 February, 2019 by the Resident Electoral Commission (REC), in the south-south state, Dr Frankland Briyai while addressing newsmen in Calabar.
Briyai stated that the decision by the electoral umpire is in obedience to a suit it received with suit number FHC/CA/CS/731/2018 between Godwin Etim John Led state Executive and other party members.
The REC said that the logo and names of candidates of the APC would be erased until another submission is made by the Godwin Etim John Led state Executive from the National Working Commitee of the APC, stating that it was in compliance to the court order it received.
Meanwhile, in a similar incident, INEC has declared that all candidates of the APC in Zamfara state are now eligible to be voted for in the 2019 elections.
