Atiku, Saraki React to Building Collapse in Lagos

Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, who lost to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Senate President of Nigeria, Dr. Bukola Saraki, have both reacted to the unfortunate building collapse in Lagos.

The two politicians took to their twitter handles to condole with families of victims in the incident which claimed nine lives and left several others injured.

Atiku tweeted:

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of pupils caught up in the collapse of the three-storey building at Ita Faji, Lagos Island. No resource should be spared in rescuing the trapped and treating the injured.”

Saraki tweeted:

“My heartfelt prayers are with all the families affected by today’s building collapse in the Ita-Faaji area of Lagos Island, particularly the young school children who are reportedly trapped inside. I pray for their safe rescue.”

The collapsed building is said to have been erected over thirty years ago and houses both commercial and residential apartments, as well as a school.

Emergency agencies including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) are currently in the field to rescue victims.

So far, twenty four persons have been rescued.
