The governor of Anambara State, His Excellency governor Willie Obiano, yesterday joined Nigeria youths in the state to speak out against police brutality. He has also sacked the OC SARS in the state, CSP James Nwafor, and has promised the youths that the formal SARS boss will be made to answer for his crimes against the youths during his time in office.
He made the announcement during a peaceful protest against police brutality, organized by the youths of the state in support to youths in other parts of the country whom have been protesting since last week Thursday with the hash tag “#EndSars, #EndPoliceBrutality etc.
I feel honored to stand in your midst, to share in your feelings and be part of your struggles, and I am going to make sure that James Nwafor is made to pay for his crimes even after he has been sacked, the governor said.
“Today I join the youths of our dear state to say #EndPoliceBrutality and I support them, not just because they voted for me and defended their votes in my 21-over-21 victories but also because all they are asking for are important and genuine, and I am happy to be in a position to oblige them all.” He further stated that the three things he will do to assist the youths in thier struggle includes to Secure the release of all arrested protesters with in the state, To prosecute James Nwafor and a list of others.
