August Alsina, R&B singer has made claims saying he had a relationship with Jada Pinkett-Smith while she and Will Smith were in a “life partnership”.
” I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life… and I truly, and really really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it… I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they’d spoken on several times and it not involving romanticism, he gave me his blessing”- says Alsina during an interview with Breakfast Club Show co-host, Angela Yee. This was posted to his YouTube Channel.
Jada’s representatives denied the claim, says it is “absolutely not true”. E! News sort for comments; A rep for Will did not respond.
Alsina says “Contrary to what some people believe, I’m not a troublemaker. I don’t like drama. Drama actually makes me nauseous…I also don’t think that it’s ever important for people to know what I do, who I sleep with, who I date.”
“In this instance, it’s very different because as I said, there’s so many people that are side-eyeing me, looking at me questionable about it. I’ve lost money, friendships, relationships behind it and I think it’s because people don’t necessarily know the truth, but I’ve never done anything wrong. I love those people.”
“I don’t have a bad thing to say about them. They are beautiful people.” He added in reference to Jada and Will.
Here are some tweets that followed after fans had seen Alsina’s post about the claims:
August Alsina made a whole song about Jada a year ago. Used a GIF of her in the vid & put Koren as the contact, which is actually Jada’s middle name… pic.twitter.com/wpBq61pQ5Y

Didn’t Will & Jada basically confirm they’re in an open relationship decades ago and clearly it works because they’ve been married for 24 years. If adults are entering into consensual sexual relationships with everyone understanding the situation… What is your problem? pic.twitter.com/eXuug8muVZ

Nevertheless, the open relationship rumors were previously debunked. Though Will and Jada have publicly talked about their marriage ups and downs in past years, they also have denied ever being in an open relationship.
About 7 years ago, Jada made a post on Facebook to correct the idea that people thought she and Will were in an open relationship (that is, being able to date other people whilst still together) due to a previous statement she made in a HuffPost Live interview. Here is a closing statement to her post:
“Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship…this means we have a GROWN one.”
August Alsina, in 2018 was a guest on an episode of Jada’s Red Table Talk about addiction.
Apparently, Alsina has been a close friend of the Smith family since 2015, with the Smiths helping him on his journey to sobriety. Alsina had made a post on instagram that same year (which has been since deleted) wishing Jada a happy birthday. Many fans thought the caption was a little too intimate, verging on “inappropriate” since she was obviously married.
RevoltTV made a tweet about it.

Meanwhile in 2019, he sang about an actress ex for a remix of the Kehlani track “NunYa,” and released an accompanying lyrics music video in which he texts a woman named Koren, which is apperently Jada’s middle name. Fans immediately thought he was referring to her, but in an (also deleted) Instagram post, he addressed the resurfaced rumors with the following statement:
“So Here’s To Clarity, The Song is not about Jada. It’s simply JUST A SONG, & a free artistic expression of a made-up narrative already put in place by its ORIGINAL format,” he wrote. “Thank you for all of your love around the music & more is to come but please know that Me & my BEST (@jadapinkettsmith) are good!!! & We will always be, 4Life!”
