Former President Jonathan, Osibanjo, Sanwo-Olu, Others pay last respect to formal Nigerian President, Ernest Shonekan in Lagos!!

  

The final burial of the former president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Ernest Olaeinde Shonekan GCFR was held today in Lagos state, witnessing a massive turn out of so many prominent Nigerians.

Some of the dignitaries that greased the occasion includes the former president of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan, the current vice President of Nigeria Prof Yemi Osibanjo. Also, in attendance is the current governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and former head of state Yakubu Gowon. Others who attended the burial ceremony include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Minister of Information Lai Mohammed, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State as well as the Governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

President Shonekan died in January this year, in Lagos state at the age of 85.  And was given a state burial with a 21 guns salute by the Military.

Chief Shonekan until his death was a legal practitioner, an industrialist, a former chief executive officer of United African Company of Nigeria Plc (UAC). He was an interim head of Nigerian Government between  August 26 and November 17, 1993.
