The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that it would conduct supplementary presidential and national assembly elections in areas where the elections did not hold smoothly last Saturday.
Chairman Voter Education and Information commitee, Mr. Festus Okoye, made this known in a Press Release to newsmen on Friday, after a meeting by the electoral umpire.

The statement made it known that supplementary elections will be conducted in all areas where elections did not take place and/or where returns could not be made on Saturday, 9th March 2019 alongside the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

INEC noted from its meeting on Friday, that there were a number of cancellations in certain areas due to violence, which prevented the commission from deploying perssonnel and materials for the elections.
It also said that in a number of locations, it could not conclude the elections due to disruptions and deliberate non-compliance with the use of the Smart Card Reader (SCR), contrary to the INEC Regulations and guidelines for the conduct of elections.
