Rivers state government, after a thorough situation review, gives more days for its residents to stock up, as the state plans to enter a second phase of indefinite lockdown.
The governor, during a state briefing said that the second phase of the 24hours curfew imposed on Port Harcourt city local government area and Obiakpor local government area, that was due to start on Thursday 14th May, 2020 has been extended till 8pm, Sunday 17th May, 2020. The aim of this lockdown is to control the spread of the deadly corona virus and save the lives of our people and not inflict more pains, so we decided during our security meeting to add extra four days to the earlier two days to allow our people access funds to stock up there homes for the second phase of the total lockdown he said.
He emphasized on the importance of the lockdown Stating that the NCDC has confirmed sixteen new cases, making the total number of confirmed cases of covid-19 in Rivers State to thirty-eight.
The number of cases in the state is increasing at a rapid rate, let’s help the government, to win this war by obeying all instruction by the WHO and other relevant health authorities.
