Nigerian Airforce reveals the identity of the driver of the car that killed Nigerian’s first female combat pilot- Aritole

The Nigeria Air Force (NAF), yesterday revealed the identity of the ex-schoolmate who jolted down Nigerian first female combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Aritole.

According to the Airforce spokesman, Ibikunle Daramola, who disclosed this in a statement, he said the driver’s name is Nehemiah Adejoh. He further stated that Mr Adejoh and two other civilians were visiting the wife of a squadron leader in the Nigerian Air Force Kaduna, they were driving a kia sorento SUV.

” It was While she was returning from the Mammy marketat at about 4:30pm, that three of her former schoolmates at the Air Force Secondary school, Kaduna; Mr Nehemiah Adejoh, Mr Igbekele  Folorunsho and Mr Festus Gbayegun drove past her in a Kia sorento SUV.

It is noteworthy that Mr Adejoh, Folorunsho and Gbayegun are all civilians. Upon recognizing their ex schoolmate, Adejoh who was driving reversed the vehicle ostensibly in an attempt to quickly meet up with the deceased, who was walking in the opposite direction.

In the process the vehicle struck her from d rear, knocking her down with significant force and causing her to hit her head on the pavement. The vehicle then ran over parts of her body as it veered off the road beyond the kerb onto the pavement, causing her further injuries.

Aritole was subsequently rushed to the 461 NAF hospital Kaduna for treatment and was later confirmed dead by the On-Call Doctor at the 461 NAF Hospital at about 4:45pm on 14 July 2020, as a result of the head injuries.

The trio was immediately detained as investigation began. They were subjected to a Toxicology Test but no traces of alcohol or psychotropic substances were found in their systems.

It was however discovered that Adejoh did not have a valid drivers’ license.”

This case will however be transferred to the local police for further investigation he averred.

She was awaiting deployment for her next mission before the tragedy, She will really be missed.
