The former deputy senate president of Nigeria, Senator Ibrahim Mantu is dead after a brief illness according to Shehu Nura that is close to Senator Mantu family.
Senator Mantu was very popular during the time he served as the deputy senate president of Nigeria between 2003 to 2007.
According to Shehu, senator Mantu died in DIFF hospital in Abuja after 10 days illness and he’s been buried today according to the young politician.
“We miss baba and we pray to God to grant him eternal rest,” Shehu said.
Senator Ibrahim Mantu a prominent and controversial Nigerian politician is a member of the Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He joined politics 1978. In 1993, he became the Director-General of the National Republican Covention Presidential Campaign Organisation.
At the beginning of the fourth republic in 1999, Mantu won position of Senate representing Plateau Senatorial District under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
Senator Mantu became Deputy Senate President of the Nigerian Senate between 2003 to 2007.
At an interview with the Channels news held on the 30th of March 2018, the controversial politician revealed how he help his party rig elections “by providing financial inducement.”
