The Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers led by His Royal Majesty, Eze Dr E.C Okeke, Ezeudo 11 of Amaifeke, the Chairman Imo State Council of Taditional Rulers and Community Policing has called on God Almighty and on the gods of the land to guide and and protect the Honourable Member representing Imo State on the Board of the Niger Delta Development commission NDDC, Hon Dr Kyrian Chidiebere Uchegbu and all the members and staff of the Commission as they carry out their duties for a better Imo State.
This was made during a courtesy visit to the NDDC Imo State Office by the Chairman Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers today the 30th Day of January, 2024 in the company of prominent and First Class Traditional Rulers such as His Royal Highness, Eze Lucky Okoro (PhD), Ezeoha the Second of Eziobodo Autonomous Community and Chairman, Owerri West Council of Traditional Rulers who is also the Secretary of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness Eze Prof Dele Odigbo, Chairman Alternate Dispute, Peace and Reconciliation Committee of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Traditional Ruler of Nkwesi Autonomous Community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State and Chairman Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, His Royal Highness, Eze Dr Mathew Nwokoma, the Traditional Ruler of Umuokanne Ancient kingdom a retired Commissioner of Police, and members of Ezeimo Cabinet.
Speaking during the visit the astute Traditional Ruler described the appointment of Dr Kyrian Uchegbu as divine pointing out that despite all the efforts of the Devil and his agents, it was possible for him to be reappointed only by the grace of God, hence the need for the Royal prayers to evict all other satanic skirmishes that may be trailing behind. According to Eze Dr EC Okeke:
“We decided to come to show our support through prayers so that his office and members and staff of the commission will bring success. We came to show our interest in his team. We have come here to pray to our ancestors and because they don’t hear foreign languages, we shall commune with them in our ancestral Igbo Language”.

” You left some things uncompleted in your first term as NDDC Commissioner, Eze Dr. EC Okeke continued, and it is our firm belief that those things, be they projects or programmes that have been abandoned will be completed by you in this dispensation, having a firm grip of the affairs of the commission and with the much needed expertise”.
In unison, the Traditional Rulers led by the Ezeimo poured libations and abblutions to the land, asking suing peace, harmony, development and above all sound health as their Royal gift to the Commission while expressing their happiness over the cordial and harmonious relationship existing between the State Representative and the State Director, Chief Sir Kelechi Nwelue.
Corroborating, Eze Prof Dele Odigbo, the Traditional Ruler of Nkwesi Ancient Kingdom, remarked that the importance of prayers of a father to a son cannot be over emphasized, hence as Royal Fathers, they have come to pray for the Commissioner and his team, which will in turn have bumper positive effects on the entire Imo State and assured of their preparedness to play their roles as Royal Fathers, citing some of the roles they had played in the past and which they shall continue to play for the peace, development and welfare of Imo People.
In his response, Hon Dr Kyrian Chidiebere Uchegbu who was ostensibly elated by the presence of such Royal Icons and their thoughtfulness through this prayer led by the Head and Custodian of Tradition and our deep cultural heritage, His Royal Majesty, Eze Dr EC Okeke, promised that the Commission under him will ensure that the Traditional Rulers are carried along in the scheme of things. He regretted that so many things have gone wrong in recent times, possibly because there was no substantive board of the Niger Delta Development Commission. According to him, Imo People have a lot to gain now that the Board has come to stay.
Highlights of the visit include the presentation of Kolanuts from the Deputy Director, Mrs Proscillia Onyeocha to the Director, Sir Kelechi Nwelue and the long traditional rituals in kola presentation, ablutions and incantations and libations.
