End SARS Protest 2023 (New Naira note Scarcity). Should we be worried about a reoccurring experience? 2020 was not the best time for Nigerian citizens. Unfortunately, we are faced with the new naira note saga.

New Naira note scarcity

Following the recent activities, it would be absurd to act oblivious to the damages caused by the scarcity of the new naira notes.

Various states have recorded banks being burnt down. Including the central bank of Nigeria, Union bank and Access bank. Unfortunately, these activities are being hijacked by the angry mob, and so we only fear for our lives.

According to an eye witness, Angry youths stormed the streets of Port Harcourt, and demanded that the sellers either accept the old currency, or close down their shops. This did not end well, because a lot of sellers were brutally beaten.

Shema’u Sani Labaran, as she known, died at the Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital in Kano State over payment alerts delay as a result of the new naira policy crisis.

According to Daily Trust, the late woman’s husband, Malam Bello Fancy, said his wife died because the doctors didn’t attend to her for more than three hours due to a delay in a transfer he made.

Speaking to Freedom Radio, Malam Fancy, said he took his pregnant wife to the hospital when she was about to deliver, but that the hospital rejected his old naira notes and also had no POS, hence that they asked him to deposit the money in their account.

Should we Blame the hospital for being nonchalant, or the government for enforcing the cashless policy?

With the high rate of brutality by the hoodlums and the angry state of the youths, citizens fear a repeat of 2020. Obviously one of the worst days of our lives.
