Why Our Deputy Governorship Candidate Resigned – Rivers AAC

The African Action Congress (AAC) has revealed that the deputy governorship candidate of the party in Rivers State, Mr. Akpo Bomba Yeeh resigned under duress.

This was made known by the party’s media office on Tuesday 22 , March 2019. You may recall that Bomba Yeeh withdrew from the deputy gubernatorial race yesterday over claims of his party been hijacked by the All Progressive Congress in the state.

However, countering the claim, AAC’s media office said that Mr. Yeeh was abducted on Sunday around 2:30pm, bribed with two hundred million naira and an SUV and also promised a function in Governor Wike’s next cabinet, leading to his shoking resignation.

In a statement signed by Felix Enimini, Publicity Secretary to AAC’s chairman in Rivers state;  Progress Ogbokuma, the party said that the alleged act by governor Nyesome Wike shows that he is desperate to remain in power alongside his cohorts despite been rejected by Rivers People in the March 9 gubernatorial polls.

The AAC also claimed that the resignation letter tendered by Mr. Akpo Bomba Yeeh has written by Governor Wike’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Simeon Nwakudu.

Also, the party debunked allegations that its governorship candidate, Engineer Biokpomabo Awara and state party chairman, Progress Ogbokuma, are been forced to not defect to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, by the All Progressive Congress and its leader in the state, Chibuike Amaechi.

Recall that the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Rivers state had on March 6 2019 adopted the candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), three days to the governorship election in the state.

This is as a result of a court order hindering the APC from participating in the elections.
