President Buhari did not give order to shoot peaceful protesters – Garba Shehu

The senior special assistant to Present Muhammadu Buhari, on media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has said that the president did not give any other to the military or any other security agencies to shoot at peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate during the #EndSARS protest.

Garba Shehu who stated this,  during the presidential communication team press conference to address the Lekki toll gate shooting  during the #EndSARS protest, added that there are two levels of investigations into the shooting;

First is to carry out an internal military investigation, to ascertain who gave the order. He stated that they cannot deny the fact that the military was there at the scene of the shooting, because the Military has already admitted to been there in a statement released by the spoke person of the 81 division.

The second level of investigation is to be conducted by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Judicial panels of inquiry set up at the state level. Their missions will be to clearly hear complains and allegations of abuses and high handedness, and to ensure that the affected victims get justice, he added.

However according to the attorney general of the federation and the minister of Justice,  Abubakar Malami, said during a press conference in Abuja that  it is too early for the government to draw conclusions, citing fake news, photo shopping and hate speech as been the order of the day.
