PDP takes the lead. After compiling the results, indications have shown that the candidates of the people’s democratic party, Senator Ademola Adeleke has taken the lead.
Following the gubernatorial election held yesterday in Osun state, results are showing that the people’s democratic party are taking the lead.
As the result unfolded, people were in panic because it seemed the APC crew wanted to rig the elections.
According to leadership, “As of the time of filing this report in the early hours of today, results uploaded on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal showed that PDP had won in nine out of 14 local government areas, while governing APC won in six.”
The election which was held in 30 local government areas, comprising 332 wards and 3,763 polling units in the state, also saw the APC losing the state capital, Osogbo, specifically the polling unit in the Government House.
The results showed that PDP was leading with over 10,000 votes, just as the portal also showed that over 87 per cent of the results have been uploaded.
The local government areas whose results had been fully uploaded as of press time are Ilesa West, Atakumosa West; Ayedire; Ifelodun; Orolu; Osogbo; Ife Central; Ede South; Ayedade; Olorunda; Boripe; Ife North; Iwo; Isokan.

Apart from Oyetola and Adeleke of the two major parties, other contenders in the election are Lasun Yusuff of Labour Party; Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord Party, and Goke Omigbodun of Social Democratic Party (SDP) among others.
Officers of the Nigerian Army mounted road blocks on roads in strategic locations across the state, while other security operatives were on ground to ensure peaceful conduct in all the polling units.
The exercise was generally considered peaceful across the state, as voters conducted themselves within the ambit of the law.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) said its officials arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in vote buying in Osun state.

According to a statement by the ICPC, its officials were attacked by thugs while trying to arrest one of the suspects in Ibokun local government area.
A statement by the NGO stated that there was an imbalance in distribution of voters to polling units which they say may have grave consequences for voters participation.
It commended INEC for its improvement in logistics management for the election in terms of prompt deployment of officials and materials to polling units.
Signed by Hussein Abdu, board chairman and Samson Itodo, executive director, Yiaga also observed with satisfaction the provision of extra machines in some polling units as well as facilities for persons with disabilities.
