NYSC Denies Protest By Corp Members on Election Day

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has debunked rumours making the round that youth corp members posted to Jakusko Town of Yobe State protested on Saturday 16, February slated for elections.

As you may know, there have been online reports that the NYSC members in Jakusko Town remonstrated over failure of the body to remit their allowances to them, prior to the elections

Reacting to the incident, NYSC’s Coordinator in Yobe State, Mrs. Grace J. Adzer in a statement, said that the the rumours flying around should be debunked.

She further stated that, corp members attached to the local government area never embarked on protests of any kind on the said date, adding that all NYSC staff posted to Jakusko  confirmed that INEC has paid training allowances to those participating in the election exercise in the local government.

The statement read in part:

“We wish to state unequivocally that none of our corps members was engaged in any form of protest in Jakusko LGA as reported in a publication making the round”.

“The NYSC scheme as a disciplined youth organization does not entertain nor encourage any protest or demonstration by corps members.”
