Honourable Temitope Olatoye, popularly known as Sugar, has been shot dead.
The Member representing Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and former APC party member was shot around 6:00pm at his eye.
He was then rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, at about 6:20 pm but was said to be too weak to be resuscitated, He gave up the ghost by 7.45 pm at the intensive care unit of the Hospital.
Arctic Reporters gather that the unfortunate incident occurred at Lalupon area of Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo state.
He was said to be coming from his village where he had gone to exercise his franchise when the assailant ambushed him.
Olatoye, who won the 2015 election as a candidate of the All Progressives Congress, lost election two weeks ago for Oyo Central Senatorial District under the platform of the Action Democratic Party and vowed never to return to the APC.
Reacting to the incident, Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Yakubu Dogara wrote on his Facebook handle:
I received with shock, the sad and distressing news of the assassination of my brother and colleague, Hon. Olatoye Temitope Sugar, in Oyo State today.
The murder of Hon Sugar in election violence today is primitive, wicked, inhumane, barbaric and highly condemnable.

Arctic Reporters gather that after losing elections, Honourable sugar appreciated his supporters on February 28, claiming that claiming that elections were marred with “extreme intimidation in our democratic history as a people”.
