While addressing the PDP stakeholders on Saturday in Awka, the capital of Anambra State Wike said if the party cannot defeat the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC) at the polls, it might risk extinction.
“We have been in opposition since 2015. if we don’t win this election in 2023, you can as well forget PDP. Everything must be done to win this election,” he asserted.
“No sentiment should be brought in. Of all the aspirants, who can withstand APC in this election? Whether this person is from Anambra, Sokoto, or Imo, look at all of us. Who can withstand APC in this election? It is me!” he further said.
The Governor encouraged the party to put aside sentiments. He further urged them to vote for him to emerge as the presidential candidate for the PDP as that will be the only way the y can win the 2023 election.
He warned the party’s leaders against fielding an unpopular candidate. arguing that this is the wrong time for delegates to be misled by money.

According to Wike, he does not desire to succeed President Muhamadu Buhari to become a running mate to any other presidential aspirants.
“when you see somebody who wants to run for election, you will know. I am not running for election to to be vice president to anybody” he added.
