Ex-Niger Delta Militant Chiefs Endorse Buhari, State Reason

Former Militant group leaders in the Niger Delta have declared support for President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of Saturday elections.

The former militants under the aegis of Peace Ambassadors for the Niger-Delta declared that part of the reasons they support President Buhari’s re-election bid is because he shown unadulterated drive for growth and development in the  Oil-Rich Region.

This was made known by Ebikabowie Victor Ben also known as Boyloaf while addressing news men  after the group’s meeting in Port – Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.

He said that irrespective of the fact that Goodluck Jonathan, who hails from the region lost of of the presidential race back in 2015, it has decided to support Buhari’s re-election bid because of the policies of the current administration, especially as concerning the Niger Delta.

Boyloaf pointed out despite pressures by some external bodies and persons for this current administration to set aside the amnesty programme, President Buhari refuted, stating that the coalition have seen a resolve by President Buhari’s administration toward Human development other than the custom payments and welfare.

He also said the ex-militants group applaud the move by the Federal Government to implement Modular Refinaries in the region, hereby eliminating health hazards and unemployment in the region.

The group state that Buhari’s administration has made the greatest effort so far toward the Ogoni clean up exercise by collaborating with the United Nations to carry out the project of 1 billion dollars.

A move that was made possible via efforts by Amina Mohammed, current Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, and ex-Minister of environment under the Buhari administration.
