The Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, in Ogun State have sealed some fuel stations in the state capital, Abeokuta, for creating artificial fuel scarcity leading to panic buying by consumers.
The operation was led by the Departments head of operations, Mrs. Muinat Bello -Zagi. She further encouraged consumers to avoid panic buying and storing excess petroleum products at home, frowning at the diversion of fuel by petroleum marketers in the state.
Furthermore, the HOO, said that the sealed stations would be appropriately sanctioned by the agency to serve as a deterrent to others.
Comparing the situation at Abeokuta now to how things were the previous day, there is remarkable difference.
Fuel stations are now dispensing products while consumers are being served without any resistance. As at this time yesterday, some of the fuel stations padlocked their outlets in other to create artificial scarcity.
