The meeting between the governor of Cross Rivers state, Prof. Benedict Bengioushuye Ayade, and the state task force on covid-19 ended in an emotional outburst while addressing the team in the state house yesterday.
The Governor spoke passionately about the state’s fight against the pandemic with zero case in the state, in a video that went viral. He told them to continue with their good work of ensuring that the state remains without recording any case.
He also talked about enforcing the executive order on waiving tax for all small business owners such as small scale farmers, hotels with less than fifteen rooms, small barbing saloon, road side restaurants and okada riders. He lamented that it is bad for them to be paying tax in the state, saying that he was not wired for such insensitivity against weaker persons. He however declared that they will no longer pay tax and asked them to report anyone asking them to pay tax to relevant authorities within the state. He tasked the Covid-19 task force team, to make it a duty to detect and apprehend all those still violating the state’s executive order against the collection of tax from small business owners.
