BREAKING: Rivers State Gov’t Bans All Public Protests in the State

Rivers State Government has banned all forms of public protests in the state with immediate effect till further notice.

State commissioner for information and communication, Emma Okah in a statement called on all security agencies to enforce the ban in the interest of public peace, safety and order in the state.

The statement also urged the public to comply with the directive as anyone found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

As you may know there have been series of protest by different groups since March 10 that INEC suspended the collation of results for the Governorship and State Assembly elections in the state.

Meanwhile; some residents of Port harcourt have expressed worry over the series of protests by staged in Rivers State.

Some of them while speaking with Nigeria Info’s correspondent Joshua Ezedike said the protests are unnecessary while others complained about the inconveniences and loss of man hours caused by these protests.

Others said it is a strategy to build up tension in the state before INEC resumes the collation and announcement of election results.
