APC Adamawa Rejects New Date for Supplementary Election

The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Adamawa state has rejected the new date fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for conduct of supplementary elections.

This was made known by the party’s organizing secretary of the party, Alhaji Ahmed Lawal, while addressing newsmen on Tuesday 26, March 2019 in Yola, the state capital

Mr. Lawal said that the reason for rejecting the new date is because political parties were not consulted and that the new date been 28 Thursday, March 2019 is a working day for civil servants.

Also, the APC organizing secretary said that his party had heard rumours earlier that the supplementary elections would hold on that Thursday even before it was announced by INEC, which makes things look suspicious to his party.

“How can you fix an election on a working day. Are civil servants not going to participate in the election. “We are going to forward our protest on the matter to INEC,’’ – Mr. Lawal stated.

As you may know, exactly five days ago, INEC obeyed a court order restraining it from conducting elections in the north eastern state, the order follows an earlier postponed election for Nassarawo/Binyeri Federal Constituency following the death of one of the candidates.
