BREAKING: Okorocha Loses Court Case Worth N1.25 billion

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has lost a case of N1.25 billion Naira following the ruling of the Federal High Court, Jos on Thursday 28 February, 2019.

Okorocha had on November 7, 2018 sued the then Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and the EFCC, demanding damages in cost of 1.25 billion Naira for  unlawfully invading his Jos residence and conducting an unwarranted search.

Ruling on the matter, Justice Musa Kurya, dismissed Okoracha’s application for lacking in merit. The Judge said that even though there was no record of how the search warrant was obtained but a search warrant dated May 3, 2017 from a Magistrate was attached as exhibit before the court.

Justice Musa also pointed out that Whether due process was followed or not at obtaining the search warrant, there is no proof otherwise to its genuineness and the breach of sections 34 – 37 of the UN human rights and African Charter.
