Prior to the 2023 Elections, flag bearers have been given a deadline to turn in their running mate for the race. And as a result of this, presidential candidates have been searching for the right partners to match their energy for the coming election.
Following the PDP primaries, Wike lost to Atiku. He has said that he wouldn’t take up the offer of being the vice president and in his words, a second class citizen. So, it is either the presidential sit or nothing else.
Nevertheless, Wike has vowed to support it’s 2023 presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and make sure he returns victorious.
As a result of the rejection,PDP is still stuck on who the running mate should be, unfortunately they don’t have much time left. Read more about the party here people’s democratic party
Reasons why Wike said he can not be a second class citizen.
This fact isn’t known, but can be narrowed down to a few.
*He lost the primaries to Atiku and being under him could be triggering.
*He is prideful, well it’s not news that the Rivers state governor has pride, and accepting a position like that reduces his self respect.
*Also he might be looking at the senatorial position, accepting the sit will ruin his chances of better positions. We all know the possiblity of winning the election is 50/50.
I personally think it was knowledgeable of him to decline the position, cause it would mean settling for less. What do you think?
